Abstract:Nowruz is an Iranian celebration that is held when spring
starts. The nature of this tradition is linked with birth and revival. From the midst of the cold snowy weather, spring and warmth arise. Uncle Nowruz’s Violets is the recreation of one of the oldest narratives involving the celebration of Nowruz. Uncle Nowruz is the symbol of spring and Mama Cold is the symbol of winter and hibernation. The struggle and conflict between the two is the story of Hibernation and awakening, death and life, winter and spring, sadness and happiness, cold and warmth and darkness and light. Therefore, in this story, Uncle Nowruz plants the seeds of his violets into the hands of Mama Cold for Nowruz.
