The Lion King |
| | Illustrator: | Amir Shabanipour | Abstract: | The King Lion is a retelling of an ancient tale in Kelileh and Demneh and Mowlana Rumi’s Mathnavi. The King Lion tells the story of a tyrant lion who has taken the entire jungle under his dominion by the use of force and violence; so much so that, wearied by this tyranny, the other animals already see themselves as victims and decide to submit and to go to the lion’s den voluntarily to be preyed on and devoured by the lion. One rabbit, however, distinguishes itself from the others by choosing to fight and finally topples the lion down a deep well with trickery.

The Parrot and the Grocer |
| | Age Group: | 8+ | Author: | Mohammadi, Mohammad Hadi | Illustrator: | Amir Shabanipour | Language: | Farsi | Publisher: | History of Children’s Literature in Iran | Abstract: | The Parrot and Grocer is a re-creation of an allegory of the same title in Rumi's Masnavi. In this narration, the author has taken a new approach that shows both the rhythm of the original narration and a new rhythm of the novel version.
This reflects the modern rhythm that exists in the repetitive structures of the images when you read and see the frames.
The illustration of Parrot and Grocer won the third prize in the NAMI award in 2017 and the honorary diploma of the Bologna Prize in 2018. |
